Other Auditions

I’ve come to realize that Auditions hasn’t been living up to its potential. When I started the site, I was hoping all the theatre companies would take advantage of the opportunity for free advertising. But there are several who still aren’t, if they even know the site exists. Not including those auditions on BLA takes away from its value, since you still have to go to other sources to get the full list of upcoming auditions.

Creating the listings isn’t difficult, but it does take time. And the tags are part of what sets the site apart from other sources. So, if I come across an auditions announcement (no youth-only) from a company that doesn’t normally post to BLA, I will submit a *very limited* notice for them. No image, tags, or details; just the title, day/s (no time/s), and a link to more details or the sign-up form. Since some theatre companies don’t have a web site, or don’t post auditions to it, that might mean you’ll have to use its Facebook page to get details.

Like the Good Show site, there are now two sections: Featured Auditions, for listings done by you fine folks who take the time to submit them, and Other Auditions, which are the ones I create on others’ behalf. In the Calendar view, Other will be listed at the end of each day.

I will post on the social media sites for these listings, and will probably create the “TOMORROW” and “LAST CHANCE” Facebook posts, but they won’t be as obvious in your feed, since they won’t have an image. It’s always best to check the site every once in a while, to be sure you don’t miss something.

If you’ve been submitting your auditions, please continue to do so. I really don’t want this site to get reduced to just a list of links.

I’ve posted the auditions I was able to find. If you know of any that I missed, please let me know. I semi-regularly check the Where The Drama Is group and pages that I follow, but that doesn’t mean I’ll catch everything.

In addition to the new listings, the Filter’s search feature actually (hopefully) works again, with some improvements. When searching for text, the synopses for listings that match will be fully expanded, so the match will show. Other Auditions will always show when selecting tags, since they don’t have tags, but entering something in Search will filter them.

I also (I think, finally) fixed an annoyingly persistent bug with the By Date view, that would sometimes not show the last day.
