Big Fish: Small Cast Edition

Theatre Frisco

Based on the novel by Daniel Wallace and the 2003 Tim Burton film, Big Fish follows Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to the fullest through fantastical stories that enchant many, except his son, Will, who aims to find the truth behind the tales.

Be prepared to list all conflicts on Sunday through Thursday evenings and Saturday morning / afternoons. Saturday rehearsals are TBD. No conflicts allowed during Tech week or Performance dates.

Characters

Theater Frisco encourages actors of all ethnicities and gender identities to audition. We believe in diversity in casting for all our productions.

Note: this is the small cast edition – all actors, except Edward and Will, will play featured roles and serve as ensemble.

All actors with the exception of Will and Josephine must play younger and older versions of their primary character.

Edward is a first rate story teller trying desperately to create a life that will be remembered and connect to his only son, Will.

Will is a young man trying desperately to not repeat his father’s choices. But through tracing his father’s past, he learns that there was so much more to his father than he never knew.

Sandra Bloom

Sandra is utterly and devoutly in love with Edward Bloom. She wants nothing more than Will and Edward to reconcile their differences.

Young Will shows us the early relationship with his father. One where Edward once was his hero telling him fascinating stories.

Josephine is Will’s fiancee and wants Will and Edward to re-connect and for Will to find meaning in Edward’s stories.

The role of the Witch has been cast.

Karl is a giant in one of Edward’s stories. Looking for someone tall and/or willing to walk with carpenter stilts. Also serves as a member of the ensemble.
